TGE and T3D

Just a question, since I am having trouble "getting" TGE, would it be possible for TGE to come packed with T3D binary atleast? I mean T3D Pro gives you TGE and TGEA, binary should at least TGE with source.

Yes, it would be technically possible for TGE to come packed with the T3D binary release. But GG chose not to do so, and it's their choice to make.

Not to mention the fact that TGE Source, at its lowest, cost as much as Torque 3D Binary. At the very most, I could see requesting them to include a binary version of TGE, but that would be more trouble to GG than it's worth for the simple fact that TGE is no longer the engine that they're pushing for development.

@Houssen - As stated in your other threads, you are better off using Torque 3D. There is no comparison between TGE and Torque 3D at all.

@Kenneth - Spot on. All of our development and support efforts are being dumped into Torque 3D and Torque 2D. It would be an absolute mess to include TGE with a Torque 3D package. The confusion would be widespread, and the logistics would be a nightmare.@Houssen - As stated in your other threads, you are better off using Torque 3D. I know I am but I want to get TGE because it has books and docs and more tutorials then T3D, that way I can learn all about the 3D side of torque then I would go off and buy Torque 3D Professional.

However, if you're still set on learning with TGE, might I offer this suggestion?
All of the books related to Torque Game Engine, to include (my favorite) The Game Programmer's Guide to Torque, come with the binary, 30-day trial versions of Torque Game Engine, and that should be more than enough to facilitate learning the engine - particularly if you are working the lessons you learn with these trial versions into your understanding of the Torque 3D engine. For the most part, the underlying concepts remain similar, but the technology itself has evolved and expanded a lot. From experience, I can say that the knowledge gained in GPGT carries over (if not directly) to helping understand and make use of the Torque 3D engine.

As mentioned several times, Houssen, I believe that you are better off starting with T3D for your learning as well, because several things changed between TGE/TGEA and T3D, because they built the engine up from scratch. However, if you're still set on learning with TGE, might I offer this suggestion?

Hey guys, I just got an email from Michael Perry, he cleared A LOT of things up for me so I am deciding to stick to T3D!!- Houssen
