Can you make a game like myst using this game engine?

I want to know if you can make a game like Myst using this game engine, or is it really only based FPS or shoot 'em up games?

Hypercard (I remember playing with that in Elementry school on the old macs) can be found at:http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=M6561LL/A

The massive amount of art assests required is probably more a problem than the engine.

Torque wouldn't be very suitable to making a game exactly like Myst. But if you wanted a similar gameplay in a 3D environment it's perfectly possible. The massive amount of art assests required is probably more a problem than the engine.

There are alternates for Hypercard such as Revolution that are multi-platform.

Torque would be pretty well suited to such a game; it already has the infrastructure, and the necessary scripting would be minimal compared to an FPS or RTS. The overhead in myst-style games comes from the assets, so you'll want a stable of really talented artists before you started on such a project (and a rock solid design/backstory - Myst's was solid enough to spawn three full-length novels!)

There was also a remake of Myst called realMyst, which had the whole game done in realtime. Really quite amazing to play through. Astounding how far graphics technology has come :)Torque would be pretty well suited to such a game; it already has the infrastructure, and the necessary scripting would be minimal compared to an FPS or RTS. If you just want to make a slideshow type interface like the original Myst (using still renders and clickable areas) Macromedia Shockwave (Director) would probably be a decent development environment. It can do video playback as well, and has its own scripting language.

The newest Myst game (Uru) will also be realtime. WOW.
