Hi
At the moment, nobody know exactly what happens. Most of the Dynamics members are not allowed to enter the building.
I personally think, that someone released source or sth illegal.
I want a statement from Garagegames to this fact. I hope you are not involved in this happenings.
We will depend our purchase of the V12 engine on your statement.
greetings

That's my understanding of the situation.

If you want to fire somebody, you have to know him, and as long as Sierra does not know the person, it would be a save step to exclude everybody from the building and search for information. That's my understanding of the situation.

I guess we'd all better wait for more news. You put an angle on the subject that I hadn't considered. Intriguing!!!

Ok I see what you mean. That's something I didn't consider. But if Havas (parent of Sierra?) are shutting down Dynamix, then it's easier to just lock the employees out, do what needs to be done in the building and then let them back in for personal belongings.I guess we'd all better wait for more news. They always have a few worries in situations like this:
1) People will steal hardware. That is probably their #1 concern at this point. A developer like Dynamix has over $100,000 worth of hardware in their office. The corporation doesn't want to loose that.
2) People will steal/destory Intelletual Property. It is also a concern that the people in the building don't all run around and format all the hard drives in the place. The T2 engine obviously has a fair amount of value (look at all the people here that paid $100 for it, just think of how much they might be able to make if they sold it without a license for like $1000).
Dynamix seems like they wouldn't do any of this stuff, but it doesn't sound lik Sierra trusts them at all.
If someone stole the source or something, I suspect Sierra would have just called the cops. Stealing the source isn't that big of a deal anyway, it is not like some company is gonna change all the textures and put "Clans 2" on the market and get away with it.

Well, all i can say if something was stolen. i am sure some of the employees would know something. I myself just got an e-mail from Carrie Dupre who deals with the public and such and her comments where that she could not deny the rumor of a shut down but she cannot confirm the closing either. I will see this as a great loss. With the rumors of GOD closing its doors, and now Dynamix. You really have to wonder what the hell is going on in the gaming community today.

This is all coming down from Vivendi. They're tightening their purse-strings, want Sierra to trim the fat and become a studio. Nothing more, nothing less.

I would agree, and i can only say that even though tribes 2 was a great game, the constant updates and such really made it fall to its own greatness.

Tribes 2 and possibly 3 is worth too much to just toss out.
with skilled people being so hard to find, I fail to see why sierra would just ax indescriminatly.
might just be some bad blood mixed with the sensitivity of the situation.

I cant see how the Dynamix situation would be the result of someone releasing the source code. If that happened, solely the person who did it would be fired.
Also, read this web site more and find out what GarageGames' relationship with Sierra is. I'm sure the two are separate entities, with GG having some special deal with Sierra.
It is probably the same thing that is happening across the IT industry in North America, where people are getting laid as companies try to reign in costs to meet revenue targets.
So chill.....
