Support for Linux?

by notme · in Torque Game Builder · 12/23/2009 (12:33 pm) · 2 replies

Greetings,

One of the other forums steered me in this direction. I'm looking to put a few 2d (and 3d) games onto a linux box, and have recently discovered the Torque/Garage Games stuff. Does Torque Game Builder also support Linux?

I have no problem having to build/compile on a windows machine, I just need to be able to run the final game on a linux box.

Any help, suggestions, or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

TGB does not currently deploy to Linux, but there are a few threads/resources that allow this if you have source access. Our previous engines that supported Linux (TGE, TGB 1.3.x) have been deprecated.

TGB 1.5.1 did build mostly on linux some time ago : http://www.torquepowered.com/community/forums/viewthread/69311

The biggest problem remaining was the menu system, as some platform-specific code was used there. Menu system is only used for the TGB Game builder component, and not in the game afaik.

Newer versions: We didn't get to that, sorry.
