Will they become open-source?

IMHO, T3D is TGEA with a new coat of paint.

If paint went through to the framing, then yeah ;)

Perhaps if said coat of paint was applied after TGEA was melted at an atomic level and used to re-form the materials that make up the frame of T3D, after which a new layer of paint, with a second layer of Sexy Spray.

I forget who said it the first time around, but I'll say it again here - open source should not become a dumping ground for obsolete products. There are plenty of open source game engines to choose from, and I don't think there's a business case to be made for GG to enter a crowded market that would generate little (if any) revenue for them.

If you do want a 3D engine, take advantage of GarageGames' offer right now. Get Torque 3D for $100. It is basically 10% of its original price, it lasts until the end of this year, so think quickly!!
The only major difference is you don't get the source with it. So $800 dollars for the source or just use the binary? I'd go with the binary if I had the money but I don't, not right now anyways! XD
