Recompile Problems

Hi,
was told to create a new thread, hopefully this is the right place... anyway this was my original post

to recap, I'm trying to get the default iphone keyboard working so I've had to add some code to engine/source/gui/guiTextEditCtrl.cc then I had to recompile.
Now just to make sure (I've been reading alot of threads about this, but I'm still not quite sure) to recompile iTGB I have to go to iTGB_1_2/engine/compilers/Xcode/Torque2D.xcodeproj then open it with Xcode and build it again?
I ended up getting hundreds of errors such as "<anonymous> has incomplete type" and "Invalid use of 'ALVoid'" but I changed the compiler version to GCC4.0 and that seemed to reduce the number of errors but now I'm still left with just ONE error which is "GL_COLOR_INDEX8_EXT was not declared in this scope"
completely stumped now so I hope I could get some help with this
I'm using Xcode version 3.2.1, iphone_sdk 3.1.2, TGB version 1.7.4 and I'm on a mac os of 10.6.2
