Teri, just set the outside terrain blocks to empty. In the editor it's called 'set empty' under brush actions or whatever. You can also make a steep dropoff around the edges of the map to simulate a plateau or island so you're not falling off a piece of cardboard.

Doing that would give you a bunch of repeating islands.

The article that Frank Bignone points to is appearantly in the SDK section of the website, which I don't have access to. So what's the big secret about keeping Torque from tiling the landscape?

It requires engine modifications that's why it's in the private sections.
