Torque 3D Binary Only Bugs

by Roger Johnsrud · in Torque 3D Professional · 12/13/2009 (4:58 am) · 7 replies

I just purchased the binary only version 1.0.1.
First there is the issue of Nvidia Physics SDX not available discussed elsewhere.
The problem is when running the toolbox and selecting to play either the demo or example, on or off the web the buttons show but no titles on any buttons. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the SDK since I have loaded the drivers.
The same problem occures in the editors etc. Nothing in the text boxes.

I could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure the physx SDK is only needed for pro, the runtimes should be enough for the binary. If you have an Nvidia card the Physx drivers have been bundled with it for a while now so thos should be up to date.

Torque looks for a set of standard fonts when it starts up, check your console log to see what errors its throwing at you.

As for the toolbox... thats quite possible the most annoying piece of kit in the box, stupid popups, settings that dont stay set and GGs refusal to either release the source or fix it, i just ignore it and play without it.

I agree the runtimes are not the issue.
None of the text shows in any boxes. Not even running the example programs such as FPS Example.exe.
I cannot see any text to see any problems.
As example even opening and editor and hovering over icons, there is a text box but nothing in it.
Anyone know how I can set in fonts that may be needed?

I believe the binary is missing some files. I get the below error:
    Message: Invalid character
    Line: 1
    Char: 1
    Code: 0
    URI: file:///F:/Torque/Torque%203D%202009%201.0.1/Documentation/content/include/referenceLookUp.js

Because I have no referenceLookUP.js in the include folder it is not compiling correctly.

Anyone have a solution to this yet? Where are the missing files? Were they not compiled into the binary?

Everything is working fine for me, I had to add one file to make mine work, but my issue was different. Make sure you update everything from http://www.torquepowered.com/community/forums/viewthread/90355

When was the last time you tried to get the PhysX Development Software?
Ever since I purchased the license I get this error from Nvidia.
We continue to have issues with our secure download server and so SDK downloads are not available at this time. Please check back periodically for any updates. We apologize for the issue and we are working to bring it back online as soon as possible.

Ah, I see. It was working fine a few weeks back when I first got it. However, I am still able to login there and find the download for the file. If you have an account it is under Online Support and then downloads.
