Suggestion for the Forums!

I have a suggestion:

I frequent a website for work and I really find their forum system valuable. I am posting a link here to a thread on that site, nevermind the content in that thread. Just take a look at the feedback system they have in place.

1. You can mark individual posts as "Helpful"
2. You can mark a thread as "Question Answered"

As a user of their forums, I find it VERY easy to search for specific items. As a matter of fact, when you search for something, you can tick a checkbox that reads: "Return only 'Question Answered'" threads.

Also, it would be nice if these forums had a rating system... Something like, "XXXXXX user had 34 helpful threads last month".

I dunno, just a thought. These forums contain GREAT information submitted users, it's just that the forum does a really crappy job of organizing that information...

(can we get a "TorqueScript Only" forum PLEASE!!!!)

I truly do mean well in this post and in no way, shape, or form and I trying to smack talk... I just think these forums could be so much better than they already are!

Thanks,

-Pete

Agree. These would be great improvements.

Personally speaking, I'm against forum rating systems myself as they have a tendency to get abused. Blogs and resources used to have a ratings system for them and some people did abuse them.

Yep, true. The other features suggested, though, look like they would be very helpful means to just organize the existing information better and make it easier to retrieve.

I think the rules at stackoverflow.com/ are great for combating the abuses of rating systems.
