HDR SETTINGS - We really need help.

by Harvey Greensall · in Torque 3D Professional · 12/08/2009 (7:39 am) · 4 replies

Hey all. I'm currently trying to balance the post-fx options in Torque 3D...

I've had great success with the Lightrays and SSAO, which both look supurb, they really do 8)

But, man, trying to get a sensible level to the HDR....I'm struggling, basically all water is inky black, it has a really high contrast, and however I try, I can't tame the effect...Is the HDR okay? Is it me missing something, or are there any issues with it? I'm not using scattersky, am using skybox/sun etc.

By the way, I'm using Sven Bergstrom's fantastic resource to change all settings on the fly in th editor

Best HDR setting ... off.

Least helpful post ever...

I fear that if you can't make head-nor-tail of them with Sven's user friendly resource, then you aren't going to. I expect it's stock code is just too high/intense (not that I know anything about such things).

"I'm not using scattersky, am using skybox/sun etc."

its suppose to work when your not using scattersky, try changing the skybrightness to 100 or 200. make sure the ambientscale is a light color. if that doesnt help i suggest use Steve's advice, thats what I use. hope to see it get fixed soon.

I think there are some issues with HDR and some shaders... water and sky... that make it harder to get good results. Its on my bug list for beta.

Aaah, that makes sense then...We'll balance Lightrays and SSAO and hold off on any HDR/Glows etc. until they're fixed...

Cheers as always Chaps ! 8)
