Question about running TGB genre kits on mac

Hey,

So I'm pretty much a TGB noob, I did a couple of tutorials with the demo, and recently decided to buy it, as well as a couple of genre kits (the platformer and adventure ones). Anyway, in order to get either of these to run, I need to replace the file:

/Applications/TorqueGameBuilder/tgb/gameData/T2DProject/TGBGame.app

with the corresponding .app file from the genre kits. Why is this? Is this just the location that any compiled game is put, and if that is true, how to I compile the corresponding game? If I don't replace this file with the corresponding one from the genre kit, the game menu runs fine, but when I try to start playing the game, it hangs and won't allow for the player to be controlled/doesn't allocate lives/etc. I guess I'm just confused as to the purpose of this file, since I don't recall having to replace it for any of the TGB tutorials.

Hi Trevor, the Platformer Kit has a private forum to discuss this kind of thing:

In short, the Platformer Kit required a series of source modifications to improve the efficiency of the scripts. In order to allow non-pro users to have access to these improvements, a binary version is distributed with the kit.

In the latest version, 1.2, you no longer need to replace the .app file by hand as the original TGBGame.app file is replaced by the Platformer Kit specific app.
