Custom Tanks?

by Lyle Harwood · in ThinkTanks · 05/13/2003 (12:54 am) · 12 replies

Will it ever be possible to design our own tanks? Adjust the size, speed, armor, gun power, with automatically balancing bars?

We plan to support ThinkTanks and the ThinkTanks community going forward. Whether that means you'll be able to customize your tanks we haven't decided yet. We do want to get comments about what people would like to see, so we appreciate the feedback.

I'm for editing colors of tanks for team play...or just the fun of it. [skins?]
bar adjusting could be cool, like buying options in a garage...better shocks, a 1950 HP engine, lighter armour, better treds?
I don't know what else could one want?

This is a tank battling game, not a racing game.

Bah! I don't want to waste time downloading everyone's custom skins. I also have no desire to spend time tweaking my tank. I like the TT aspect that everyone has the same tank, and it's all about driving skill. (err.. and connection speed, but that's another thread...)

I'm with the others. The simplicity of ThinkTanks is what brings me to the game. While a color or something might be good for team games, I also don't want to hassle with skin files. I definitely don't want all sorts of weird tank tweaks only gotten by good play. I'm not a great arcade game player, so this kind of powering up tanks would quickly leave me far far behind.

IMO a (limited) selection of (non-customisable) skins supplied with the game would be a good alternative. Something like different camo colours (fixed in team games) and patterns (standard, jaggy, cubist, etc)..?

Customising/upgrading tanks' abilities would likely just make the game less newbie-friendly, and give unfair advantages to the experienced players - over and above their superior tactical knowledge!

For the five of u who played Star treck Starship Creator Warp II under crew there's a kind of thing that would work nicely for tank stats (add to one stat and it takes away from another)

as for the tank editor:Go for it
