War Evolved has evolved onto the App Store! - updated with numbers

Hey all,
I just wanted to let everybody know that the game my girlfriend and I have been working on for the past 9 months has finally been approved. I'll do a post-mortem blog when I get the time, but I first wanted to say a few things:
Thank you EVERYBODY who helped me the past 9 months. There were a few things that I definitely would not have been able to solve without your input. I don't want to list everybody who helped me because then I would feel like a jerk if I left somebody out, but THANK YOU.
Now to the game...
War Evolved is a multiple touch accelerometer enabled network game powered by T2D. War Evolved places you in command as you evolve through seven unique eras. The war begins in the caveman era and progresses all the way through to an era in the future.
Major features of War Evolved:
- WiFi two player
- Challenging AI (if I may say so myself)
- Online scoreboard
- Accelerometer support (for a feature called Shake for Quake)
- Upgrades
- Turrets
- Fun graphics

The only resource that I've created so far is the (broken) Pinch to Zoom and Swipe to Pan resource, but I can think of a couple others that could be useful. I am a college student who has exams coming up, so it'll take me a few weeks to start creating them but I definitely will give back to the community (Dave, I haven't forgotten, I'll contact you next week).
WarEvolved.com has more screen shots and a video for those interested. For those even more interested, you can download it from iTunes :)

You've got what I'd consider successful numbers, but only if I worked on a game somewhat less than 9 months ;)
(One more sale coming from the European region)

Whoah, I didn't really notice this one at release. Been too busy with less fun things to keep track of releases :(You've got what I'd consider successful numbers, but only if I worked on a game somewhat less than 9 months ;)

What happened on the 23-25 to push up your numbers? Any Idea? Wondering what caused the jump. I am surprised at how similar the results are to the Xbox Live Indie Games. You may want to check that out, I know I had very little issue moving from TX2D to iTGB.

Last year also saw a 4x increase in AppStore sales around the gift-opening days (24th/25th).

That would be people receiving new iPod touches (mostly) and iPhones (occasionally) :)Last year also saw a 4x increase in AppStore sales around the gift-opening days (24th/25th).

It'll be interesting to see if setting it to free really pays off.

I just wanted to let everybody know that you can get War Evolved for free right now. I listed War Evolved on Free App A Day, and the results so far have been impressive. In the past 20ish hours, there have been over 31,000 downloads (all free, of course). War Evolved is currently ranked number 34 in the overall app store. I'll post more results as soon as the promotion is over, but I just wanted to give a heads up.It'll be interesting to see if setting it to free really pays off.

Hi Justin, congrats on the ranking. I am thinking of doing something similar in the next couple of months with the OpenFeint Free App of the Day. Good luck on sales after today.

Thanks for posting your data. You're getting a huge number of downloads, and I'm really impressed. I was starting to lose motivation actually, but after seeing what can be achieved I feel much more optimistic.

War Evolved has been out for just over a month, and things have been going really well. War Evolved is slowing climbing the ranks, and it is getting to be really fun. I haven't done anything that I said I would do in the last post, releasing a new game keeps you busy. Since the release, we've done two updates and are about to release a third major update.
Anyway, you can see all of the numbers at opsive.com/blog/?p=24. In short, we have been slowly gaining traction and Christmas weekend was really successful. It will be interesting to see the future trends.
Just to plug War Evolved a little more, the newest version will include the following:
- air units on every level
- cheat mode
- Facebook Connect integration
- bug fixes
