Hello,

My name is Cheryl Gress and I run Christian Computer Game Reviews http://www.ccgr.org we review games from a Christian perpesctive and mention things that the ESRB doesn't. Even though we mention things in games that we don't agree with, we also praise games for what they do right. If oyu ahve any questions or comments I'm interested in them.

Cheryl

It's been covered enough, but I felt obligated to add my name to the list of Cheryl's supporters. This may come as a shock to some people, but different groups of people have different values and that's OK. It might seem really great to spend your time around people who only have your same value system, but I think it would be boring and would discourage me from critically re-evaluating my own values.

We sites such as Cheryl's can serve as a valuable source for parents. Some of my coworkers are wholly under the impression that video games are all about running over children, because they know it from the news. When I buy games for children, I'm careful to review and understand what I'm buying for them. When I buy a game for myself, I don't really care about the content.

Video games have a bad reputation among some people, which is exactly why the Wii is such a success. If you're worried about your kids playing games which could be harmful for their emotional development, you probably feel pretty good buying a Wii. It's not *all* games that upset so many people, it's the content and games like Mario Kart don't make headlines. The day that somebody takes out several commuters merging poorly with a blue shell is the day that we'll see Mario Kart on CNN.

When we have sites such as Cheryl's to point people towards games they might like it's good for gaming in general. "Good" may be an understatement. A lot of people of faith play video games and those people have varying tolerances for content. Cheryl's site is a great way for people who have kids that want video games to look and find games that appropriate for their children or even for themselves if they just want to play good games that offend their sensibilities. This means more people are open-minded about games as a whole because of sites like Cheryl's that act as a counter-balance to Jack "Murder Simulator" Thompson and your typical reporters and politicians by showing people that there are games they might actually like and enjoy.

Now, can somebody please explain how it is such a terrible thing for Cheryl to show people that anybody can have fun with video games, but they just have to find the right titles for themselves and their family?

Hmm...it was on the front page. I found this book by Abdul Alhazred and put its lessons to use.
