Need feedback and material help (3DS MAX TGEA 1_8_1)

Okay, so I modeled a longboat for my mission 3DS Max and had some trouble with it's material texture work. As you can see in my picture the wood texture I applied worked well on some parts, but in other parts it's stretched. I've tried to apply the texture piece by piece and adjusting each part individually but changing the material effects every piece. So I was wondering if anyone had any good advice on how to apply the texture or wouldn't mind helping me.

And my second problem is with parts of the model disappearing and the player falling through. You can see the whole things there. But from some angles things disappear and on certain spots you don't connect.

I'd love to hear the answer to the second question as well. I've got so many models that perform the same as you described in TGEA but in TGE they work perfectly.

Are your textures stretched in max or is it just in game?

They are stretched in both max and in game. I've tried adjusting them but it seems no matter what I do some part of this model ends up with stretched textures.

Foestar, I have to ask, do you know how to UVmap ?

Still fairly new to mapping in max but I do know how UVmap a bit. I just tried it out some more and managed to get the texture on boat to fit. But the sail seems to be 1 sided. It's a planar object and my thoughts are I should have made it two sided? Or is it by default?

2 sided is not by default, you have to make the 3ds max material 2 sided
