No sound under Mandrake 9.1 Linux

I'm getting no sound when running ThinkTanks under Mandrake 9.1 so I presumed that it was because I didn't have the OpenAL drivers installed. Creative recently re-organised their website and only have a runtime installation for Windows and the Mac. Presuming this is my problem, does anyone have a link to runtime libraries/drivers for OpenAL for Linux?

Actually, ThinkTanks ships with the OpenAL drivers, so I don't think that's it. I'll have to check with John to get more info on what could be going wrong.

Mike, just noticed that John has a long section in the readme for sound issues. Have you worked through that yet. Solution may be in there...

No - sorry, I haven't had the chance to work through this problem yet. I had to put it aside for more important matters. :) But I will read the text and post my findings here.
