Torque X 2D crashing issues

by Mike G. · in Technical Issues · 10/28/2009 (10:48 am) · 1 replies

I have a post documenting my questions here:

http://www.garagegames.com/community/forums/viewthread/104691

Summed up:
The "Your first Torque X Game" tutorial leads to major lag issues with the built game (running from both torque and from visual studio's debugging command). It was working fine at first, but then i moved my cursor (NOT CLICKED) outside of the game box, and it started to lag. This led to a freeze up with unresponsive controls, but the rest of the computer worked fine. Minimizing the game leads it to turn into a purple screen when brought back up. I have having the same issue with the Tankbuster demo splash screen (it lags and purple screen when minimized). If I press space, though, it skips the splash and goes into the game. The game seems to run fine (though the bombs drop at light speed). If I minimize, though, i get the same purple screen problem.

Any solutions to this? I can't justify a $150 purchase per developer (or $1) until I know this will work well on both the PC and XBOX on any potential customer's computer and our own. I was really looking forward to using it for our project.

It might be useful to note that the XNA's platformer starter kit does not have these issues Torque is having. (Not the same platformer starter kit as GG's)

I'm using:
-Torque X 2D Trial version
-Windows XP SP3
-2.6ghz AMD dual core processor
-2 GB ram
-9600 GT
-5 GB free hard drive space
-Visual studio 2008 express
-xna 3.0 and xna 3.1

hello all, i hope someone would answer as myself and a friend of mine who wants to use Torque X 2D is having a similar issue. when we try to run the "starter game 2d", the GG logo comes up and its supposed to move via keystrokes, but doesnt. it just freezes/lags. im also having the same issue when trying to run the platformer kit in demo mode, it loads, dragon takes a breath then freezes. the finished platformer starter game works fine, though. to clarify im not blaming Torque, i just need help in figuring whats causing this freeze/lag to happen so that we can move along in our developement. :)

system specs:
Torque X 2D/3D (CC edition)
Torque X Platform kit 3.1.0.1
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650@3.00ghz
4GB ram
Windows XP SP3
Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX @ 1GB memory
Visual Studio C# 2008
XNA Gamestudio 3.0/3.1

...any assistance would be helpful. :) thanks and take care.
