Particle effects tutorial

Hi All,
I'm totally new to TGB (just bought it yesterday) and have been walking through the tutorials trying to get my head around everything.
One odd thing I'm running in to is that particle effects don't seem to be working. When I open the tutorial base project and then drag a particle effect on to the editor (like big_explosion.eff) in the editor the particle effect works fine, cyclically exploding, but when I actually hit Play Scene to watch it in action properly I don't see anything. The same is true for all the particle effects.
Any advice?

Yep, it's definitely within the view rect. Not sure about your second question (only just started with this stuff)...Shouldn't I just be able to drag and drop one of the predefined particle effects on to an empty level in the tutorial base project and have it play? It works fine when I'm in edit mode and you can see the visual effect, but when you hit "Play" all that gets loaded up is a black screen.

I have 1.7.4 and I noticed a lot of the images for the emitters for the predefined particles for the tutorial base project are simply not there. rain.eff for example has no image. If I edit the emitter and assign an image it works but there is no rain image. So I can make it rain sack people and trees and clouds but not rain.

When you place it into TGB and start the editor, it actually starts playing the sfx before the game even appears on your screen. So if its an animation that plays once then kills itself, you won't get the chance to see it. I forgot exactly how you do it, but I believe you can fix this by changing effect mode to infinite if you want to see how it'd play over and over.

I finally figured out what was going on. Under project resources I had starterArt loaded once I loaded particlesArt the particles showed up. The particlesArt is on GarageGames\TorqueGameBuilder-1.7.4\tgb\resources. Now keep in mind this was not part of the tutorial base project nor was it mentioned in the docs. So something is still a bit wonky somewhere. Either the docs or the tutorial base project file for 1.7.4 I am not sure which.
