Trees needed

by Sean "Game Sage/Sage" Ruiz · in Artist Corner · 04/17/2003 (10:47 am) · 11 replies

I'm looking for either a package that creates randomly generated 3D trees, or a tutorial that I can use to help create trees in 3DSM or MS3D.

Why not mix the Bravetree Tree pack with Melv's shape replicator?

Wasn't there L-System code that was just released? Why not use that?

Well that replicator seems like a good idea, but i'd prefer finding a prefab or 2 then customizing several unique models.

speedTree is what you're looking for, if you can afford it:

Why not just make them. It takes longer to collect good tree textures than it does to make the models. I am sure there are alot of content packs full of trees but I ain't never seen one worth buying. Maybe Marlin Studios. But I would rather just have the textures and make my own trees.

speedTree looks pretty nice. Anyone use it for a Torque game?

I'm playing with the speedTreeCAD demo, but since I can't export anything... its hard to tell how well it will work. I would imagine the full version could export to a format 3ds max or milkshape can read, and then just export the dts from there. Anyone able to confirm that?

What stinks about SpeedTree is it's $6000+ price tag, not to mention all the legal crap.
