Mac Status?

by Cary Farrier · in Torque Game Engine · 08/03/2001 (8:39 am) · 3 replies

What is the status of the Mac implementation (Dave C?) on both Pre-X and X? Will it be up to par with the Windows and Linux clients at initial release (esp. wrt/networking but not disregarding other areas as well)?

Thanks,

Cary

Just so there is no confusion, only the servers (dedicated and master) are running on Linux and OpenBSD. They will be available for the initial release. The clients are still under development and will be released later.

Hey Cary -- long time no see. ;)

The quick answer (bc I don't have time for a long one right now) is that the Mac client is in good shape and continues to make progress week to week. It is reasonably functional (graphically, generally, networking-ly), but overall it's still in the 'not yet ready for primetime' category as compared to the Windows side (which was a shipping platform, remember, and has been under some heavy beta testing for a while now). For a longer answer, you can check out my .plan.

Hey Dave, good to see you around.

Thanks for the pointer, it looks like things are moving along well -- I'll keep my eye on your .plan.
