Looking for some Advice.

Hi, I am new to the Torque community and wanted some advice about the various versions of the 3D Engine.
About a month ago I began learning about Torque and just finished working through the GPGT. I am anxious to continue learning and getting some more hands on experience but I wondered if maybe I would be better off purchasing T3D now, while it is in Beta, and continue learning Torque with it or if sticking with the Demo version of TGE (1-4?) that came with GPGT makes more sense.
I have a pretty good programming background (6+ years) and enjoyed GPGT, everything made sense and it was easy to follow along and test out what I was learning in the engine but it is nagging at me that the version of the engine is limited and outdated.
