[Bug] Computer Restarting

by Kevin Turchik · in Torque 3D Professional · 09/06/2009 (6:07 pm) · 8 replies

I'm fairly positive that this is a hardware issue, but any time I try to run a level in Torque3D, my computer restarts the moment the loading bar is full. I have tried running several different levels, but I always get the same result.

Now that should not be happening... but you already know htat ;)

Just what kind of hardware are you running on?

Is there anything that manages to get saved in the console.log file or does it totally miss that because it restarts?

1. Post your computer's specs, especially graphics card.
2. Update graphics card drivers (nearly always the cuplrit)
3. In scripts/client/prefs.cs change the bit about lighting from "Advanced Lighting" to "Basic Lighting"

Updated my graphics drivers. Torque3D Runs now, but at 3fps (Basic Lighting, 640x480 res, no special effects checked on).

My graphics card is a GeForce 6100 and my processor is an AMD Athlon 3200, 2.01GHz 1.00GB of RAM.

A 6100? That's quite old... I would still think you'd have a better framerate than that though.

I would think so too, but my computer is indeed rather old. It may be nothing more than that the parts are wearing out.

We should really start a stickied thread somewhere around here for "Getting T3D to perform on older hardware", various tips have come up around the forum.

yeah, the older pc's do struggle a bit,
I have 2 pc's, my primary is a quad core 2.5 with a gtx295 and 4g mem, I get 60+ in al with all effects on.
my 2nd pc is an athlon 1.8 single core with a gt9600 and 1.5g mem, wont even get past the t3d options dialog....
