Game Development Community

New guy question...

A lot of people here are working together on projects, right? How is everyone coordinating version control and updates? I created a new project in the hopes that GG supplied CVS and a few other development tools, but I didn't see anything. Am I missing something? If these things are not available, how are all of these people coordinating development together?

Btw: this is a cool little community. How long has the site been up? Just curious...

Thanks for the help...

John.

Bob.. most of us are using CVS from our own servers (or some other CVS like system) either that, or just copying code dumps around.

FYI gg.com has been around about 2 years now I think. (Is it that long? :))

Two years? Wow, I feel out of the loop. This is definitely a nice site. I was afraid that after I purchased the engine I would be on my own, but there is a lot of support here.

I know that this is a stretch, but does anyone know of a site that gives you free hosting, ssh, cvs,... for commercial products? I've been pampered by sourceforge, but obviously my project is no longer Open Source.

Thanks for the help...

I don't know of any sites which give you that free, but I and two friends have a server in Birmingham (and if you pronounce that last syllable, then don't worry: it's in England) which costs

Ian,

Thanks for the offer, but I can get a static IP from my ISP and I already have a few development servers that I can setup with any software I might need. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going over kill.

Thanks...

Free, no, but Maxgaming has some offerings that might be affordable that we're about to roll out.

Lol, I wasn't actually offering you my machine ;) Just giving you an idea of how I solved the problem.
