Max.9 Export Trouble

by dave small · in Technical Issues · 08/30/2009 (3:19 pm) · 2 replies

I am running Max 9 service pack 2 on a vista system. I have both the Pro and 9 dts exporter.

Heres the problem, I am having trouble exporting characters and weapons that have nodes, (aka mountpoint, camera , eye, etc..) The models export just fine except the nodes are gone.

And yes collapse transforms is off. I have also tried exporting older meshes that I had done in Max 7 and did have in torque already, but even those nodes are disappearing, so i know my hiearchy is fine.

Any help please. P.s. I hate vista

Your problem has nothing to do with Vista.

What tripped me up was the fact that Physique is not supported. Thus, if you have a character with Physique and bones, it won't export the bones/animations. Instead, you can use the Skin modifier.

#1. do not have BOTH exporters installed. I prefer the regular exporter since I had heard the pro version never worked right.(it may work ok, I never tested the validity of those words..it was just easier to use the one suggested by veteran torque devs.)

#2. You need a .cfg file in the same directory as your max file. This is used for the exporting of your model and nodes. (I hear that some people don't use CFG files, but I am not sure of what they do to get the nodes to export.)
- There is an example cfg file with the orc player in TGE and TGEA. Obviously you do not have T3D...so that will apply to your learning path.
