Realm Wars Client for Linux

by Mark Cooke · in General Discussion · 03/26/2003 (8:14 am) · 5 replies

Sorry if this has been asked (but I cannot see where), will there every be a Realm Wars Client for Linux? or are we as usuall just hosting servers for Windows players??, as I can only see a server for Linux.

Sorry to sound negative, but it does get you down at times, knowing that there are loads of great games for windows, that *we* could play, but don't as companies don't make the clients, just the servers for us, so we can make windows users gaming world more rich!

The above whinge isn't directed towards GarageGames, just the trend I have noticed in the gaming world.

Yes I have purchased all of the Linux games that GG have created, and they all rock, thus my reason for asking about a RW client.

To elaborate on Stefan's response. There has always been a Linux client available. In fact, it's been more up 2 date than the mac client. Having said that, it still needs a maintainer. If noone volunteers, no client will be updated. It's that simple.

On your other point, I wholeheartedly agree. It also pisses me off when only Linux servers are released. I just refuse to run a linux server for a windows only game. Of course most people will just use the linux server on machines they colocate. They don't particularly care if a linux client is made or not...That's why you'll continue to see a lot of games come out with linux server binaries but not client binaries...

There is a linux client, and a number of people have volunteered to do linux builds. Mac is really the problem.
