Work on Darkmind Entertainment's first title Project Raven Chronicles. www.projectraven.com is coming along nicely
Past
We have been working on this project for 4 years now. It all started in 1997 when I first started writing a 230 page document which explained the universe of Project Raven. When creating the universe I kept a franchise in mind, branching off ideas for 3 video game titles plus possible anime and movie scripts if the franchise is successful. After I was finished writing the universe in 2001 I recruited a concept artist and started creating visuals to bring the world to life. I then spend nearly a year learning and using my skills for another game company that was interested in my IP, on May 27th 2003 I created DarkMind Entertainment and began creating a prelude to the universe. Over the last 4 years we have created a lot of work, 25+ maps , 55+ character models, 12+ weapons, 20+ sound tracks and countless sound effects. On the programming side we have many things finished including doors, elevators, glass, mirrors, a dynamic chat system which keeps track of what's been said before and what missions you have done, AI for monsters, and a inventory system to keep track of money made and what items you currently hold.
Present
Currently everything we need is created, we just need to export it all into the engine with LOD. A different studio is working on the title trying to get it working within Quake III.
Future
I was hoping to have this game ready a long time ago, but with this new co production we will hopefully be finished in 6-7 months
The Business
Business wise we are doing pretty well, I have 2 publishers willing to take a look at the project and even have a major game developer that wants to meet in person. The region we're currently based in is Edmonton Alberta Canada. The region has almost no support for new media companies. I've been meeting with numerous people in the area, discussing how to bring more of the industry here. I have met with MLA's, local University's and am currently in talks with the cities Economic Development Center, I have even done multiple articles for a major news paper in the area.
That's it for now, thanks for reading.
