So I finally have something good to talk about (well I think it is)

After trying to work out what to do with my TGE licence I've decided to make a WW2 FPS called Battle Grounds (working title) to help me learn more about coding, 3D modelling and game dev in general.

Why am I making a WW2 game I hear you scream?

Well, mainly because I'm really interested in WW2, and I really like the idea of recreating historical battles that you can be a part of in the digital world.

At the moment I'm working on a small demo to show artists and programmers in hope they will help me out on the project.

The demo is muilt player and will be based on the Pegasus bridge mission where it took British commandos 15 minutes to capture the bridge from the Germans.

Below is the Pegasus bridge model I'm working on (very early shot)...

It's taking me awhile to model it because I'm trying to get it to look exactly how it looked during the battle (which is hard when all you have to work from is some aerial photos and old pics your can't work out detail on)
I've contacted the museum where the bridge is currently located and requested some better photos so hopefully they can help me out, but no doubt it's going to take a few tries to get right.

But anyway, without giving away too much information... Two of the plans for the full game are to have online and single player missions.
And there will be a large number of vehicles you can operate.

Oh and I'm looking at adding TrackIR support which will allow you to move you head around in the game (for more info about TrackIR click here) which I love the idea of.

Well that's it for now, I will post some more info in a week or so... Sorry if the above doesn't make much sense, I'm really crap at making .plans.

Time to go do some more work.

Thanks

-Joseph

Ps. the image at the top of the page is a temporary image I made until I come up with something better. :-\

Cool - I love WW2 FPSs - started making one myself a long time ago. But then the market got flooded, and I couldn't find a modeller, and I gave up. :P

Hey Mike, yeah good modelers seem to be hard to come by :-\

Willbkool, there's a lot of WW2 being made... but also a lot shutting down which is a shame... I love playing different WW2 games mainly because each one has it's own style .

Exciting! What kind of variations will you do on the multiplayer gameplay?

Hey Andy, at the moment the modes for online games will be the normal deathmatch and team deathmatch as well as objective based modes such as capture the bridge or plant the bomb... more will be added as the game progresses in development.
