Plan for Nate "Nateholio" Watson

After a couple years of working on my project Ive decided to go back to concentrating on hardware full time instead of trying to continue developing my game. Why am I doing this instead of continuing? Its not that I lack the perserverance or discipline to finish my project, but the fact that I need to maximize my productivity over the next year or so in order to get my company turning a profit in preparation for me possibly getting out of the Air Force and moving on to the 'real world'.
Its been 'fun' for me to work on my project over the past couple of years and Ive learned quite a bit. But this project will take more cash than I originally thought to complete to my standards. I hope to pick up on it on a few years, when I can fully fund it and technology gets better allowing me to implement things that would run slow on current hardware.
As for the work Ive already done, Im debating releasing my attempts at modelling to the community. On one hand I want to release fairly decent models for indies to use as examples, but on the other hand I still want to keep them for use down the road - quite a hard decision for me. Of course I'm sure that anyone who reads this would want them released for free, no-credits in game, etc.
Thats about all I can think of for now, so I'll get back to my schematics and post more if I think of anything else.

Sorry to hear you're putting your project on hold, but it sounds like you've put a lot of thought into the decision, and it may turn out to be for the best. As for your models, I'd say if you have any generic models you could probably release those as a pack. Since you plan on resuming work on your project in the future, you should probably keep the vehicles, etc, that you've designed. Of course, releasing them now may not be a horrible thing, since if you plan on taking a couple-year hiatus, you may, by then, be in a position to remodel them to higher specs, or even redesign them (tweaks, or even from scratch). Either way, I wish you all the best in your endeavors. Hope to see you on IRC still, though! :)
