Plan for Phil Carlisle

Scary(Head) and other such things.

Well, it looks like we (we meaning myself and my potential business partner) might actually be setting up a company! finally!

We will be working under the name ScaryHead, working on a portfolio of games (initially a couple of simple physics based 2D games and a sim-style game).

Our focus will be on building a viable developer brand name in Scaryhead, with focus on getting small but memorable games delivered in short timelines.

We both have a lot of years of professional game development behind us, but we are both generally very much of the opinion that we want to actually take control of our lives and our future development.

Expect to see our first project(s) later this year. Obviously the projects will be announced here and on the website (www.scaryhead.com once mark gets his finger out and finishes the damn thing).

On another note, the AI and 2D enhancements are coming along, both of which scaryhead will use in anger, so the keyword here is RAPID prototyping. If we cant play a design and know if its going to be fun within 1 month, we will ditch it.

Yay, Phil! Good luck with your venture. Play it cool, I want to be able to tell my grandkids that I knew the guy from ScaryHead, developer of the game they are playing on Playstation5 now :)

Quote: If we cant play a design and know if its going to be fun within 1 month, we will ditch it.

Excellent mantra.

What happened to the space game, though? Too complex?

Space game is going to be a code-pack. As in a more complex content pack, including models and scripts etc. Plus tutorials and other docs.

The space game itself is still work-in-progress, but its simply not a viable game in terms of sales for such a small company. We need to make money pretty soon (to fund development and pay wages etc).

So you might be able to play it at IGC, but its unlikely to hit store shelves too soon.
