Uebergame now on Steam Greenlight

Uebergame is now on Steam Greenlight
When I first started with Torque3D my idea was always to build a free open source game, but the open source community never got much attention, so I will try something new and bring a free open source game on Steam.
I see it as some kind of experiment, hopefully a community will form and help out with contributions, even if it is just testing and feature requests, so the game and of course the engine can be improved.
At the beginning there were multiple people demanding a community based game with Torque3D, but nobody stepped forward, so I try to fill the gap now.
My goal is to build a sandbox game with multiple simple game modes like deathmatch, teamplay etc on different scenarios, targeting mainly casual players who just want to play a few rounds against each other in multiplayer.
The game is free so you can upvote it if you want, without feeling guilty for not buying all games you vote up. ;)

The problem now is just, that it is not done in version control, so I do not have much idea what has been done , but I already noticed a lot of features have been broken or overwritten also.
I will try to disassemble it and merge over the needed features one by one into the repository.
If you can come to my IRC that would be great, so I can ask you when problems arise.

Just finished the download and tested it out and must say, I'm really impressed, the amount of features added and resources integrated is amazing. The problem now is just, that it is not done in version control, so I do not have much idea what has been done , but I already noticed a lot of features have been broken or overwritten also.

Made a change to player options, now has a skin preview and proper skin list. I would love to know what features were removed?
I'll get with you Monday probably on irc.

Stopped by to see what was up, found this project. Nice idea. Wish I would have thought of it! Read through all the 'steam crap'. Spoken as only 'players' could speak..... sigh... I like this idea and I am working on voting YES right now (Auto log in is nice but not when you have to hunt down the password.... lol) Anyway, I have sorta moved towards UR4 but, I am still VERY fond of T3D. I wish you the best man, and it's good to see more that a few dedicated peeps still active AND thinking.
Yes vote added and I posted a comment as well. Hate steam feedback but, in this case, ya did good man and I support you 100%. Good luck!

I have stripped away all the art assets, many of them cannot be used anyway since incompatible licenses and the good ones I will rework with proper LOD, col-meshes, convert the textures etc.
The script part I have merged now and merged some of my changes back into it.
Please don't do any more random changes on your own without contacting me first, since then I have no idea how to keep track of all those changes, since there are massive changes and also with an older code-base where things are called differently.
I will upload the updated repository later and update the issues section.

There is hard competition on Steam and hard to compete with Torque. Sadly most people do not even read and so did not understand the main feature of this project.
Sure it was maybe too early to set it up, but since I work mostly alone on it, I will not have significant changes in month, so it does not really matter when I put it up on Greenlight.
At least I have build it all by myself and did not just use something from the asset store.
I am just merging Zod's changes into it and when I can get them to work properly there will be a massive update soon, with lots of new game modes and weapons. If I had known from Zod before I may have waited for his additions and then make a campaign on Greenlight.
But now it is all hard marketing work.

Zod I hope you are still there, since I could need your help, currently I have a list of over 40 issues to work through and I would need your advice on some of them.

Was it difficult to integrate the Steam API. I'm currently working on a Unity project at the moment but the next project or the one after that I would really like to create something for Steam using Torque 3D. Just wondering how much of a technical hurdle it was.

I did not integrate achievement or inventory systems, so there was nothing to do for me on that part, it went all pretty much automatic.
Zod
There is a serious issue that prevents the running of dedicated servers, something to do with GFXFormatDXT1 not supported by GFX Null Device which also affects your game, so no dedicated servers possible until that is fixed in the engine.
I have engine changes as well but I won't get into that until you have reviewed what I have uploaded.

May take you a while to go through and you will have questions.
