Interesting, but isn't this just making Rune into straight UT?

Sounds interesting.

Is this basically a RUNE mod?

I think adding balistas and siege warfare for a 'capture the castle' theme would be very cool. Other additional features I can think of:

Adding:
-Mounts
-Mounted combat
-Siege weapons
-Kingdoms/towns/villlages/Castles

Game Modes:
-Siege (capture a 'castle', 'town', village')

You could also add different things to different modes. You could even give rank based on scores, and award kingship to eh person with the most points that sieged a castle. Things like that, just interesting ideas to play with. I really enjoyed Runes combat system, a step into the right direction for Multiplayer games, alongside other great games such as Die By the Sword.

Doug,

Having written a professional-quality CTF mod for Rune [not to mention updating as much of Rune's script as possible to where it was useable for mods of the quality seen in UT] that I refused to release for a variety of reasons, its really not possible without getting into the engine code to do mounts/mounted combat. Siege engines and towns, etc. are definetly a possibility. Additionally, the network code really never got truly fixed and the popularity of the Rune game itself has waned...

What we will be doing is taking some of the best features from different games and rolling them up into a nice package. One of our main goals is to keep it simple enough to finish.

As far as Rune not being as popular as it once was that is of no concern since all we would like to do is prove we can make a game, which is very important. This game as mentioned above is a good start or addition to anyone portfolio.

I will be posting Help Wanted ads this weekend. Please look for them. And thank you for you time.
