Open Invite for a new Torque Project for Halloween

Now that I have more time to blog about what is going on, here it is. A lot is going on in my life right now, taking me away from game design and moving into other areas of game-like design like modeling, sound design and building projects with Torque 3D. I've taken a good long look at where I've been with Garage Games, and where I'm going with and without GG's.

First, I'm going back to the basics. I'm doing what started it all. I've asked the current person at Garage Games to review all my best Ambient sound packs I've released since 2004 and asked to be placed back in the store if they feel the sound packs are truly worth both of our time to move forward with. So you may see more of my sound packs coming back to GG store once more.

The next area I'm focusing on is non-game apps using Torque 3D and Torque 2D. I'm working on new types of entertainment using Torque products, which is a plus as it needs this very badly I think. I have seen Torque come and almost go. Alot of great people have left Torque engine products yielding for more of Unity, UDK and the list keeps growing. I'm not one of them.

Sure, UDK looks awesome, but I like free. I love the support that has grown with the Torque 3D and 2D engines since they went MIT. I know, UDK is free to use too, at least version 3 of the engine. I've spent a lot of time learning the Torque 3D and 2D engines to change up now. I'm not as fast of a learner as others are. So I stick to what I know.

I would like to put out an open invitation to anyone interested in my current project. I have been working on small stand alone projects for the haunted attraction industry. I am planning to open my own Haunted event featuring 3 haunted attractions, a kids haunt, midway and more in the next two to three years which will be located around the East side of Indianapolis, IN USA.

My project is to help those who have talent get known. I have limits of what I can do alone, but with others help, I can move those willing to jump aboard this ship to a new area of design, still game-like, but doing things for the haunt industry using Torque products. My goal is to begin something like we have for Toque 3D and 2D, where we work as a team to bring new and exciting digital products to the haunt markets, like virtual haunted attractions, digital effects for haunts like:

atmosfx.com/products/detail/unliving-portraits - Un-living Portraits

atmosfx.com/products/detail/creepy-crawlies-2

and many other videos.

I know we have people here on Garage Games who can help me move into this area of design. We would not be a game company but it would be fun never the less. Profits made from the sales of our digital downloads off my site at http://www.hallowscreams.com would be split fairly and evenly between all who worked on the package. What I need is talent from modelers, voice over actors and engine programmers to make this happen. Like I said, I can only do so much on my own.

If your interested in helping me with this project in some way, please post here in the comments section or email me at info AT hallowscreams DOT com and I will get back to you ASAP. There are more then 1200 haunted attractions around the country this Halloween season, maybe next year we can have a team project done to have our own products in some of these haunts.

That is the goal anyways.

I have loved Halloween since I was 9 years old. I have also wanted to do my own haunted attraction and event since age 10, I'm 43 and within a few years, i will have my own attraction, which I'm blessed to have gone this far with the idea. I have invested more then $35000 of my own money into props and costumes for this event, and hope to see it to its start in 2016. If that isn't dedication, I honestly do not know what is.

So who is with me? Anyone interested in working on something cool to show off to the haunt industry? If so, lets go!

BTW if this project don't work out, I will still continue to work on haunted products on my own, so at least it isn't a huge loss. I just think it could be fun and money making for us if we ban together to use Torque in new and exciting ways.... what do you all think? am I crazy?

Thanks for reading guys. I'll post again soon!

Will
