Dia Tres: Procesar los Templos

Dia Tres! Spent most of today in 3DS Max exporting Pyramids into Torque-ready shapes. I use Gasman's 'DoIt' plugin for setting up .dts models and have to say I don't know how I worked in torque all those years without it [oh, right, I only used OSX...]. I had issues getting the textures to map properly using the Collada format, so went back to the OG method of exporting as Torque DTS shapes.

Here's a building in Max:

Once I had the models ready, I imported them into my terrain test level to check the texturing. While I was at it, I setup a basic set of forest brushes. Setting my modded brush size to 256, and varying the brushes to roughly correspond to the procedural texture placement, I had the test level covered in fauna in the time it took to wait for the tea to brew:

Here's a Ball base in the untextured level with more cliffs in the background:

Once the shapes were in place, a quick test of Walkabout's navigation gui:

...the temptation to start piling on extra shapes is great, but for now I'll stay focused on my timeline...

Nice looking pyramids were did you get those from?

@Kory: They began life as Arteria models, but I had to re-export them as I add nodes for gameplay and tweaked the collision/LOD to keep performance up.

That third shot is fantastic. Great use of the stock assets.

@Daniel: Gracias! I'd like to say the genius is mine, but props go to Konrad for the proceduralism. I just had the eye for the right accident ;)

This plan of yours is really working for you, Gibby. I've been following these blogs and I've gone from mildly interested to downright impressed. Also, what Daniel said.

Good to see Walkabout in screenshots already, too.

@Dan: Gracias! Keeping up with a daily schedule and one's real job[s] has been quite a challenge, let me tell you...
