Dollar Dash Has Been Released!

by Quentin Headen · 07/22/2011 (8:54 pm) · 18 comments

After months of work, I have finally completed my first full game ever. I have worked on projects before, but I have never been able to actually complete one. In my last post, I explained a little bit about the game, and how it will soon be released. Well, it is finally here; and free too!

So head on over to my site to download it. You can download it from this page: phaseshiftsoftware.com/dollar-dash. Scroll down to the very bottom, and there will be a download link.

As a side note, this game does require a Windows PC. I wanted to make it for Mac, but I didn't have a Mac to compile a few engine changes I had to make. As another side note, I want to thank ALL of you guys again for helping me get to this point by answering my questions.

Please comment on how you like the game.

Enjoy! :)

Edit
The game has been relaunched as Gold Dash, and it is no longer free, but it only costs $1. You can find out more details here.

@S2P

Thanks for the congrats man! This community has helped me a bunch.

@Keven Mitchell

Ha ha ha ha. Yeah, those rocks and nails can really make the game tough. :) So I presume you didn't find any bugs. I'm happy it is working well, because every time I would play it, I would find some sort of bug. :P

Thanks for downloading it.

Just tried it - fun game

Bug report: Not sure why, after a while, in level 20 - think i hit some car and pressed space just bedore but not soon enough (not sure) the road wouldn't move anymore.

For a while i thought it had hanged but suddenly a car came right at me

Playing like that felt weird

Anyway, congrats

Edit: oh and in my opinion, those headlight levels are not fair at all. Consider putting some alpha blend in the dark parts.

@Luis Rodrigues

Thanks a million for downloading the game and playing it. I'm not sure why the game hung for a while like that. TGB can sometimes do strange things.

And about that headlight level, I might just add some alpha blending so that the player can see "slightly". Thanks for the suggestion.

@Everyone

If I happen to come out with any game updates, I will post them on my site. So you might want to sign up for the Dollar Dash RSS feed with this link: phaseshiftsoftware.com/category/dollar-dash-blog/feed

Just finished it, really fun...

One crit, personally I thought the health bar is a bit too big.

@Sean Brady

Thanks for playing! I'm a little confused by you saying a bit "too big". Do you mean that the health bar looks to big, or do you mean that it should deplete faster when you are taking damage? Your feedback is greatly appreciated. :)

I mean the player is given too much health overall.

Thanks for the feedback Sean and Luis! I've put both of your complaints in my personal bug tracker. If you can, please subscribe to the RSS feed for Dollar Dash so that if I come out with a new update, you guys will know it.

Very nice, I like the top down style genre. I think it was Spy hunter back in the 80's that had that too. Took me way back :D Man I am getting old...

Just wanted to point out that in your story line you have a typo, just do a search for "Unknown the to driver"

I've release a small update to the game. This update adds some changes, and it also adds a new update notification system so that whenever a new update comes out, you will know about it.

So head on over to this link phaseshiftsoftware.com/archives/391, and please download the update. I want everyone to have this latest version so that they can be notified of any further updates.

Thanks again everyone for playing and for suggestions.
