Age of Decadence - new gameplay video

by ITS_Nick · 01/07/2011 (11:16 am) · 18 comments

What is it:
"The Age of Decadence is an isometric, turn-based, single-player 3D role-playing game set in a low magic, post-apocalyptic fantasy world, inspired by the fall of the Roman Empire. The game features a detailed skill-based character system, non-linear gameplay, multiple skill-based ways to handle quests, choices & consequences, and extensive dialogue trees."

This video demonstrates:
  • For you, gamer: a fragment of Assassin Guild quest, some tactical turn-based combat, upgraded visual quality of a game, now using a Torque 3D 1.1b3 technology;
  • For you, Torque community member and fellow developer, this shows that you can make virtually any imaginable game, having a modern engine and an access to a source code on your hands.

Hope you like it and thanks for watching!

That looks great. Good graphics, nice animations, good gameplay. :)

Not entirely sure about having the Fword as a character status icon in a medieval/fantasy setting ...

@Steve
:)
We treat the setting more like a time of desperation and drastic changes, power-grabs and backstabbing, realistic in terms of characters' behavior, rather than cliche fantasy with Ye Olde English speak. Plus we have already defined, original writing style =) It was discussed and criticized/praised many times, including here:

Great to see, been following development of Age of Decadence for several years and can't wait to get my hands on it. It's also good to be reminded that non-casual games can be made too :D

And lets not forget the actual TALENT to do it with the code. Those of us, like myself, who can't code or script, can't make anything as nice but looks sharp never the less. Congrats. :D

I've always believed you either got that talent or you don't, those who does, can make great looking games, those of us who don't, we try and try again, or hire someone who has the first part. :P

Many people, including Gareth 3 posts above and myself would strongly disagree about that. Even if you don't have an inborn predisposition towards something, that can be compensated with good amounts of will and interest, leading to Knowledge and Experience.

This is seriously impressive. Are you planning a mac port?

Definitely, though we don't have much experience with Macs. It may take us a little time after Windows release to figure out what's required.
