A Two Week Running Start At InstantAction

10 days of sales training, bizdev meetings, and the biggest gaming event of the year and I survived. Also we had to prepare for several meetings and another conference called GES. As you know two weeks ago I started with InstantAction as the Sales and Social Media Manager. Part of my role with InstantAction, the social media part, is to share with the community what exactly I am up to. This is my report!

GES. GES or Games Education Summit provided a conference for colleges that taught or are looking to teach game development. While at E3 and GES I did take some video and pictures to bring back, although the intention was to get them posted each night but there was just not enough time. We started the trip in Vegas and then drove to LA for some meetings and setup on Monday.

After the 4 hour car ride we stopped and had business meetings and then drove and started to setup a rather awesome booth at GES. Which you may find familiar looking.

At GES Michael Blenden and Mich Perry really commanded the presence of the floor. Eric and I were also helping field questions with several different school leaders as well. All in all GES was a great show where the team really made a great impact there.

Now onto E3, needless to say E3 is big and no matter how many times you hear this it's not enough. E3 was still bigger than I expected. I wont flood this post with millions of pics instead head here to see the shoots I took. You can also take a look at the video I shot for it and my 14 day visit to Vegas here.

I got to experience E3 as both a consumer and a businessman. So I could not do to much sightseeing as the number one reason for me being there was to develop and start new partnerships. I did however get to play a bit with the Sony Move and a game called Black Prophecy. New Vegas I am looking forward to as well, hence the fanboy shot above.

Also while I am writing this just wanted to thank everyone again for the warm greetings! And all the activity on twitter. Feel free to reach out to me on twitter @torquepowered or my personal account @tallgamer
Thanks for reading!!

Oh yeah.. just one more thing (Columbo style)
It's a secret to everyone!

Darrell,

InstantAction is an API and set of back-end games services such as e-commerce, digital distribution, achievements, social connectivity, etc. The closest comparison I can make is XBox Live.

The person you spoke to couldn't say because, well, frankly the schedule has enough risk that projecting a larger market release would likely be incorrect. Right now, the API isn't ready for mass-market consumption and we are currently working very closely with the games we integrate which makes it difficult to handle thousands of games. We are, and have been working, on a scalable system for a while.

It's a separate division from Torque but I'm actually writing this from their offices in Portland (I'm on a trip syncing up with the platform team). I'm not an official spokesperson for the platform team, but having working on that side of the business for a while, I can give you some decent perspectives. The technology is very cool.
