Action Arcade Wrestling - home stretch

Hi Everyone!
Well, I think I’m nearing the end of the road. Gosh I’ve been making self-taught wrestling games since I was a kid. No reason other than I always wanted to make video games on the side and I always started in the wrestling/fighting genre. I remember the first one was a game made in BASIC. I’d actually have to get grid paper, no lie, and use colored pencil to draw the graphics, and then program each frame into the computer. Color Red, Left 2, up 1, color green, right 2, etc. Unbelievable.
Of course, I’ve always been a project kind of guy. I could never just sit and relax. I always had to be doing something. If I was born 50 years ago, I’d probably be one of those guys that had to do crossword puzzles or build model Lionel Trains or something.
Now, in the end of September, I’ll be having a new project. The twins. They will be my primary focus. So I’m now in the final stages of maybe the last “hobby” game I make. And so far, I’m really proud of it.
Action Arcade Wrestling is now currently in playtest. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

So far I’ve heard that the wrestlers go off the ring, but I can’t duplicate the error. I’ll have to keep looking into it. But right now, I’ve entered into the testing phase. Other than maybe a design or move here and there, no new content will be made for it. Other than timeframe, the one reason for this is to keep it under the 50 meg limit so I can charge 80 points for it. The match types are as follows:
Single, Tag Team, Battle Royal, Rumble, Championship, Tag Team Championship, Steel Cage, 3-Man Survival, 4-Man Survival, Steel-Man, Steel-Men
Pretty good for a buck, I think.
I’ll be going on vacation in a week. I’m planning on using that time to go through each move and check the effects/sounds for that move. I have time to get it pretty tight I think.
Also, another change I made was the graphics. I wanted the wrestlers to match the “cartoony” look as the rest of the game, but they were just too flat. I added some texturing that I think gives them more depth without taking away from the art style:

My facebook page (www.facebook.com/ActionArcadeWrestling) has been great to do some small scale focus group stuff. The fans have given me great feedback on some decisions.
So yeah, I think we’re in the home stretch. I’ll probably write one final blog once it gets approved, but I’m getting pretty excited to release it. I can’t wait for everyone to try it!
Thanks and God bless!
