SoW Weekly Update 10

...Exhausted...
We appear to be going through a bad patch for SoW development here. Overtime the last 2 weeks, this weekend was packed with social activities and next weekend I'll be away for Splashy Fen.
Ah well, we're just going to have to ride out these rough seas. Seas...which leads me to the topic of the update. Yes, it's still that bloody boat. I swear it just doesn't want to get finished. I'm trying my best to complete it, squeezing in hours here and there were I can. But the damn thing is complicated and fiddly. The texture work was a complete pain.
But we're almost there! Just need to add some portholes, a few windows, an anchor and some deck details and we're there. Small things, I'd finish it right now if I wasn't bleeding exhaustion from my eyeballs. None-the-less, the Weekly Update must be, well, updated. So here you go, 95% done :
You'll note I removed the rings around the sails. I was using up way too many polygons with those things, much more efficient to make the loops holding the sails up as part of the texture. I also decided the back sail looked silly being unfurled when all the others weren't.

Nice-looking texturing on those ropes. What's the triangle count of the ship?

Good call on the ring change to texture. It actually looks better that way. Too many people think that making a model right down to the finest detail is the best option. I prefer the more texture work option, even if I'm not great at texture design myself. I like the change on the back sail. Even though it makes sense to have it that way I still keep seeing the way it was before for some reason. lol, don't know why. Keep up the good work!
