In London this Week

by Brett Seyler · 09/01/2009 (5:35 am) · 22 comments

I'll be visiting London this week and looking to meet with as many of you as I can. It can be formal or very casual. Up to you. I'd also like to do a get together on Friday (the 4th) for Torque developers (or interested Torque developers). Can anyone recommend their favorite pub in London for the spot? Late hours required :)

P.S. If any of you want to meet up with me separately this week, shoot me an email (bretts at torquepowered.com). Everyone welcome. Except dodgy people.

Since 2007, I've done my best to steer Torque's development and brand toward the best opportunities in games middleware.

Too bad it wasn't in 3 weeks when I'll be there. Don't forget to head over to Bray for some chicken liver parfait and scrambled egg and bacon ice cream at the Fat Duck!

@Gerald: ewww... English food is gross (*looks over shoulder and ducks*)

It's a good thing they have so much awesome international food here. Had some Indian food last night that blew my mind. I wanted to write a poem about it.

Congratulations on finding the least typical english pub in the whole of london! I'm flying to the West Coast tomorrow, otherwise would definitely have met up.

Indian food is the best English food, that's why we had an Empire - to conquer people and "liberate" their culinary traditions for the greater good of ... er ... us.

I went to an English theme pub in Santa Monica once, good food, good service and clean --- nothing like a real English pub at all!

Remember to look "the other way" when crossing the road and try not to get stabbed by a child.

@Steve: Liitle Children That Stab You? That's more violent than taxi drivers in Chicago who round curbs too close, causing them to run people over and not ever care.

But i only go to chicago on speicial occasions ;)

I was about to say, the Italiaans Pizza didn't look very English (nor the sign about fietsen and brommers which was easier to read :P).

Hey Brett, would be great to meet up! I don't really know any pubs in Central London though. Please let me know where you plan this and what time and I'll try to be there. Email is matthuston@gmail.com.

Used to work in London many years ago - our office watering hole was the Lamb and Flag in Covent Garden. If its anything like it used to be it will get very busy on a Friday night but you'll be hard pressed to find a more traditional London pub.

Go into a pub and ask for a Budweiser: "The king of beers" Then you have a chance to put your MMA skills to the test.

Keep takin' pics then upload them in your common when you get back. Enjoy the rest of the trip.

Darn, my wife and I were meant to go to London this week for a little break from work but we decided to stick to our home town Manchester rather.

Enjoy your stay mate. :)

@Michael

More people than you'd think drink Budweiser here - it is owned by Belgians now anyway :)

Alright, from what I've found out about London, everything closes early, so I'm going to suggest we get together a bit sooner than this. Here's where I'll be:

What: Beers on me
When: Friday, Sept. 4th, 3-5pm
