The Repopulation - Alpha Test Phase 2 now Open!

We are happy to finally open the doors (well a small door) and allow some people to come in and start some testing. This is an early Alpha test and we have a lot more work to get done, but we have most of the game's mechanics done and things are ready for testing.

A bit of information about our project since some might not be familiar. The Repopulation consists of 2 Core Members: J.C. Smith and myself. Also helping out quite a bit on this project is Kevin Grove with some modeling and animation work and Evanion with the UI work. The Repopulation started in early 2007 with J.C. working on porting over the Torque MMOKIT from TGE to TGEA and he has been working on it ever since. I joined the project in mid/late 2008 after seeing a lot of work already going toward a project I was interested in designing myself so we started working on the project together and hope to get the project on its legs and open to the public sometime soon.

Currently, we are using Torque 3D for the engine and the Torque MMOKIT as the basis for most of the scripting and RPG logic (all in python). A lot of modifications have been done to allow for a class and level-less system with open access to all skills and abilities if you have the time to train in them along with a lot of PvP modifications for territory control (Control Points as we define them) and quite a bit of changes to allow clans to control and manage land they are in control of. Another major part of The Repopulation is the generated quest system. We are able to deliver quite a number of quests ranging from basic ones such as delivery/collection/kill quests to more epic quests requiring a whole clan to complete. The quests are generated based on location, explored areas of the map, skills (you can get crafting missions and other missions based on different skill sets), along with a handful of other paramaters. Hopefully as this continues to grow and mature it will offer a effecient and enjoyable way to grow ones character while keeping the game fresh.

If you are interested in learning more we have a very detailed game wiki with some basic tutorials and a rather long document over most of the major functions of the game and how they function. We are currently allowing anyone that wants in to do Alpha testing. Rather you simply want to poke around or perhaps interested in playing in the future we welcome anyone to visit. In order to get access to the Alpha you will need to create an account on the website and then we will send you a key once that is done.
