Hi,
I am upgrading my PC soon to be able to run all torque products and i would like to see quite what you can Make with torque constructor and the quality of what you can make.
So i can work out weather i need 3ds max with its hefty price tag or weather i can use the amazingly free Torque Constructor for my various projects.
So post away including pic's of all your best work on torque constructor any thing from entire maps to a single Gun i would like to see it. i would also appreciate video's of game play made with torque 3d.
Thanks very much,
Alistair

If your going T3D then you probably wont use Constructor at.
constructor is a harder program to make more advanced shapes in. as all faces needs to be convex and flat ...

Constructor is as said used only for inanimate objects. So you will need a normal modelling program. And even if Max is one of the top once, you will hardly need top buy that .. there is far cheaper alternatives like Cinema 4d and milkshape. If your going T3D then you probably wont use Constructor at.

a: I Think you mean constructor
b: Yes you need max or some other program that exports collada. We use Softiamge. Blender also works and has a huge re-write coming making it much more usable.
BTW: what exatly is a modles?

Cough *Blender!* Cough...
Dang it, James ;P.
Anyway, the quality of what you can make doesn't depend as much on what you make it with as how good you are. There are some great 3D artists around here... do a search for a user called Apparatus and check out some of his stuff. I'm not sure what software he uses, but I'll bet he could make things just as pretty with any comparable alternative.

Note that constructor doesnt render your models in the program, but they look awesome afterwards.
Taking that to the example from my first blog. I made this bridge in constructor:

I was very skeptical with how it would turn out. But, i got amazing results using Torque3D:

I know, right?
So For a free program, i give constructor an absolute 5/5.
Now for 3dsMax, Which i also have ;)
What andy said:
So all in all, heres a rule of thumb:
If its something your going to be walking, standing on, moving through, etc. It's going to be a .DIF file which is made in constructor.
I hope this helps you!

Quote: constructor and max are different beasts, max is mostly used for the finer details for your geometry, aswell as animated structures, and ofcourse your weapons, items and player models, whereas constructors used primarily for creating your buildings etc.I use 3dsmax for up close detail objects. Crates, barrels, File cabnets, refridgerators, whatever the heck i can think of off the top of my head. 3DS Max is very pricy, but you can also download a 30-day trial.

also this is best suited for the forums rather then a blog ;)
