Realtime Material Editor for TGEA--RELEASED!!!
by Daniel Hopkins · 06/11/2009 (10:02 pm) · 13 comments
Hey all!
I have just released the first version of my realtime material editor for TGEA 1.8.1! I figured I'd go ahead and set it up on my website while waiting for a response from GG. It is available to purchase at my website for only $5.00(USD)!
In addition, here are a couple more videos. If you wish to view the entire list of demonstrational videos, you can head on over to here.
This video demonstrates the use of the new in-game editor:
This video demonstrates how to use custom shapes:
There is also a new feature. To reload a material quickly, you can either click the material in the drop-down menu, or drop the list down, and then click outside to close it. Upon doing this, a dialog will pop up asking if you would like to reload the material.
And there you have it! If you like what you see, you can head on over to my website and pick up a copy! You can pay with PayPal as well as Google.
Though I removed as many bugs as I found, there might still be some somewhere under the rug. If you encounter one or have any issues/questions/comments/feedback, feel free to post them on the material editor thread or contact me via the email provided with your purchase, found in the "ThingsToNote" document.

Nice program but I strongly recommend getting off MediaFire, My browser had unlimited amount of pop ups from that after I ordered. I really wasn't pleased with that and when my MCAfeee Site Advisor kicked in saying one of the pop-up's was strongly recommended I didn't visit due to possible hacking. Good product you have but I feel it's the wrong service to put it on as I wasn't very pleased with all the mess I was left with after my order. Just food for thought.
You do know you can receive payments from Pay Pal with only an Email right? If I would have e-mailed you a payment it would have been as if used Google or if you had a Pay Pal account (unless they changed it in the last few months when I last used it). It's another option you might want to look into or get with Derek here on Garage Games, I'm sure he would love to put it in the store for you. Who knows, it don't hurt to ask.

@Will Zettler: Ouch! I'm sorry! I had no idea it would do that. I haven't encountered that problem yet. I will take it off and put it somewhere else right now.
Hmmm...that's interesting about Pay Pal. I'll check it out! Yes, I have contacted Derek. It's been about a month or so and no response. I guess they're pretty busy with all the stuff going on around here :)

It's cool, just thought you would like to have known about it :o). Things happen and if you dont let others know, you would not have known about that. It's all cool, going to be installing it today.
Yeah you may have to write Derek about once every few weeks to keep up ont he reply of what's going on next, he is good getting to you as his time permits but he is def. a very busy guy. He's a good and helpful guy who enjoys his job and helping us guys get out stuff up on the site. So just give him about 3 weeks and if you don't hear back, just write him again, he will get around to you in time.
Thanks for making something like this, it was much needed. Maybe you should release it as a EA release, kinda like a pre-release as I'm sure you will be adding more to it over time. Has a great base to add more stuff to. I will let you know if I think up anything you could add to the package. Very sweet pack. Thanks for making it and for the fast reply.

Alright! I have moved the file to another location, and figured out how to set it up so it goes straight to the download process once you click the button (i.e. you can download it straight from the checkout page).Have fun, and if anyone encounters any more issues, feel free to post here or contact me!

As far as fees are concerned, I'm leaning toward once you buy the editor, any version updates after that are free. It depends on how complex the updates are. Bug fixes and smaller updates will most definitely be for free.
@Everyone: There is now a buy with PayPal option available. To download the editor, click the "Return to Merchant" button after successfully completing the checkout process.

@Will: Well, no updates are planned right now, but I am open for comments/suggetions on how to make it better. Basically, I've released the base verion and am waiting to see how everyone likes it. If people like it and have some good ideas on how to make it better, an update will be high on my priority list. Glad you got Pay Pal up and running. The other Google option wasn't that hard to use, but I did like how it gave you the option of going to a web site to a password area to download the package, that was cool. Type at ya soon and thanks!

Daniel: I agree. I'm willing to pay for how complex it gets. It is a good editor. A little complex on installing but I'm not a coder either :o) so it takes me a few tries to get it right. Yeah I will give you some feedback on it and see if i find any bugs or whatnot for ya. Not a prob.Glad you got Pay Pal up and running. Updates aside, what do I receive if I purchase this? Script-files, source-files or just binary scripts/exe? That's the only question I got. For $5 it doesn't really matter to me if there's a few bugs.

@Stefan Lundmark: The editor is made with Torque Script, and I also recommend integrating my multiple animated layers resource. So, you will recieve both the editor's script files and the (optional) resource integration code, as well as a simple installation document. Also, I am currently creating an installation video to help with that process.
