Warscale 29 - Im not a sound engineer

Hi everybody,
For those brave enought to continue reading, this is more a frustration entry and a rant. In fact I have nothing to report this week except an almost complete failure. Please read the remaining of this blog with a little sense of humour.
I usually never listen to radio and I dont own an MP3 player (thats a lie... I do but I use it as a flash drive instead). I like music but Im not the type who turns on the radio to listen music while working.
And maybe... just maybe... thats the reason I cant put my mind throug all the sound system. In theory its easy, put your file in the appropiate place, call alxCreateSource, then call alxPlay right??? right???
I still dont know why the sound system wont play anything even when I get a valid handle from the alxCreateSource.
I also installed VMPlayer... awesome resource... allows me to play the background music thats the best thing I got done this week.
Now, as I really havent done anything useful, I will change my usually positive -things that I did this week- format.
Frustrating things i did this week
I programmed all this code in order to sync sounds and events (attack, damage, death) and bought the SFX404 pack (5 star pack) and I cant play the sound effects.
Bad problems I got this week and are still unsolved
a. If the background music is playing and the main window loses focus the music stops and wont resume when I get the focus again...
b. When the music is loading the music stops so I just cant start a track for the loading procedure...
c. Dis I mentioned I cant play sounds????
I will post these entries as questions in the forums... this is a rant so let me vent some frustration.
Things I started until I noticed will require a large integration to get a good feel
I bought the Green Ear pack and implemented a peer to peer chat window. Works fine, uses the tool window control I programmed before and the nice chat system. But after that, I noticed there would be so many things to develop for this to work fine (create new user accounts, buddies lists, block people from contacting you, active chat chaannels so that you dont say things to people you shouldnt). I decided to stop this Green Ear integration for now as I think making sounds work should be the most relevent thing.
The plan for this week
Nothing... Im planning to record myself crying and hope to hear that cry on the headphones.
Snippet
Nothing
Final complaint
All the sound system should be as simple as the VMPlayer. Function to play sound in which channel... thats all... dont mess with audio descriptions and profiles and all that... I know I know... you need to specify 3d sources, loops and all that... forget this... I'm just frustrated...
Good luck with your projects!

Hmm... is this a channel issue? I haven't really ever worked with sounds in TGE/A to know for sure. But I seem to recall having a similar issue in the past in TGB due to not assigning channels... I may be remembering wrong though...

Well... at least I have been able to play some sounds now. Not really sure which was the problem. Now I have to solve the problem about music stopping.
Luck!
