Well I finally took some time to play with the moveable bitmap option to try and start breaking FoHO away from looking like the other kit games. The design is based on the website so it all meshes together. I've always had my worries about where the website template images came from so I will go through and pretty much recreate images for the website and game. As a one-man team, just can't do it all at the same time :) So the final guis will look different but here is the first round.

It looks great!
I love your chat area and those background watermarks! This really gives personality to your game.

Looking sharp, Leathel. =) It might be worth looking into a font color change for the character sheet - the white looks like it might be too close to the background color to be easily readable. Hard to tell from a screenshot of course, but it looks like a darker color might do better there.

Overall, GREAT work, very impressive new look for your game!

So did I see that right? You're a one man team? Does that go for the company as well? I'm pretty impressed by your game's website and I can tell that the game has had a lot of heart put into it. Where there maybe be alittle lack in skill it's made up for by someone who cares about each aspect of the game. Correct me if I'm wrong. Keep up the good work.

Great work Leathel and I just noticed that 2 books accompany the game (1 to come I believe), really impressed with your output (especially if I'm right in assuming your a one-man-band) and the results, the reviews of the books on amazon look good too, those and the game are on my to-checkout-list, Well done! :)

@Kevin,
I did try using a darker color but it blended in too much with the castle image so white ended up being the most visible. I do have to either darken the chat area or change the chat font color. The Zone yellow color looks fine, but once implemented in online mode found the Global chat is pretty hard to read.

@Scott,
Yes, it is just I doing the game, website, author, publisher and game dev company. I am hoping the game gets noticed and a bigger publisher might pick up the books. I would rather focus on the game portion. I have found it to be one of those things that can drive me up in the mornings and stay awake all night. Atleast doing it for me. I don't think I'd like it for another company. It'd be a job again. But, add in four kids, Tae Kwon Do two nights a week, and a full time day job, I am pretty busy :)

Yeah, the final book of the series is on hold until I finish the game. Lots of people waiting on it. The game was originally started to help promote the series, but as stated, I have found something in the game dev portion. But I am hoping I will be able to right the quests into the game to really join nicely as a story itself to really bring that the players are part of the overall series. But if interested the first book is free in eBook format in the website store area.

Wow, I didn't know you were a one-man team. It makes Foundations of Hope even more impressive. Very cool, and thanks always for posting your progress.

WOW tackling an MMOG all by yourself is pretty ambitious! I've got a small team of volunteers helping me and I always feel like we need more help! There is just SOOO much to do, and so little time, and so many people wanting it all to be done yesterday. It can be overwhelming sometimes. But then, I never had a chance of making a game by myself because I'm not a programmer, I always knew I was going to need help. I'm an artist and writer, and have a little leadership training, but programming is not my forte'. Hat's off to you! I'm anxious to see it finished.
