Darkwind alpha testing weekend

by Sam Redfern · 03/21/2006 (2:10 am) · 16 comments

We ran some alpha test events over the weekend: a qualification event on Friday, another on Saturday, a third on Sunday morning and then a race on Sunday evening. From a development perspective these were very useful, and both usablilty and stability should be much improved by next weekend when our second race will happen. Thank you to all the testers, I hope you had some fun and you stick with us!

I would say the highlight of the weekend would probably have to be the hilarious antics of the Psyclists on the final lap. I think that particular victory celebration will be hard to top!

Sam....you $%#@* you are making my dream game!

I have always wanted to remake some version of the classic "Autoduel". And you guys coming darn close.

So who do I have to kill to get in the testing? :O)

Todd, sign up! Anyone with that kind of enthusiasm is welcome! :)

I don't want too many people just now, but there's certainly room for a few more....

Jay, yeah it's turn-based too, trying to recreate the feeling of a board game where you're all sitting around having a laugh rather than having to concentrate too hard on hammering the control keys. There's even timeouts! -- one of the guys the other night decided he needed to make a sandwich when we were on the starting grid.

Todd, it's a couple of days until we plan to have the next events- they'll be qualifying timetrials for another race at the weekend

Hokuto: there's something weird on our login script on the website, it seems to fail occasionally, I'll look into it tomorrow. In any case, if you try again it will probably work.

Todd: did it arrive yet? You're not the first to have a slow signup email.. you could try the 'lost password' option and have it emailed out again..

Ok, tried the "lost password" option, will wait and see if it gets mailed to me

BurNinG:
Yes, it might sound a bit strange, but it works!
One of the good things I find is that, after submitting your move, you can zoom the camera back and watch what happens to everyone, not just yourself, as the move rolls forward.
