Plan for Phil Carlisle

by Phil Carlisle · 06/15/2005 (2:55 pm) · 25 comments

Ok, so my last few plans havent exactly been screenshot heavy have they....

Now that all changes! :)

I'm due to set off on my round the world trip in less than two weeks. But I'll be working quietly while I'm stuck in airports and such, on this and the AI. So we are ready for a October debut!

Anyway, this week has been dead busy, with students finishing, Ive got 12000 textures to start mapping the buildings for the france level. Along with some other stuff I bought and some contracts.

Anyway, without further messing, here are some simple footage shots of the game, in divx format.. just me pootling around in a spit.

Aerobatics
Shoot
Water

And for those who cant be bothered or dont have divx.. here are some screenies..

Sweet... you can also check out Phil's plane in the latest TSE Milestone #2 video that was just released. Head over to the IOTD.

Download the large size TSE Milestone 2 Video
Download the small size TSE Milestone 2 Video
Hint: Right click on the above links and choose "Save As". That way you can download the file and not have it play in the browser.

wow, that terrain really rocks. it doesn't look "torquey" one bit!

Phil, I know realism != gameplay (and screenies != gameplay either), but keep in mind muzzle flare is generally barely-visible in full daylight.

I'm looking forward to buying Air Aces.

Looks like a ton of fun to fly that plane. Can't wait to see some enemies in there!

Sounds like that experiment with a multiplayer space dogfighting game paid off... :)

This is looking sharp. Can't wait to see how it plays. It's going to be a challenge - with the big open space of the sky, it's the physics of flight and the differences between aircraft that is usually the deciding "gameplay" factor in a realistic flight sim. I'm anxious to see your solution!

DUUUDE ... so beautiful ... another one in the "can't believe it's Torque" category. awesome.

I'm looking forward to a playable demo of this, to get an idea of how it plays. Its looking visually nice though :)

You should add enhanced mode trackIR support to the game. It does wonders to the gameplay experience when you can look around the skies rather than using a pov hat or padlock mode.

Who knows, if you contact natural point you might be able to get a free TrackIR + vector expansion pack.

Jay: Exactly, its the way the planes feel.. currently thats just a quick hack, soon it will be "the real thing (tm)" :)

Gary: Yeah, we'll definitely have it supported. I'll hit naturalpoint up for an eval once I get a website up (not a lot of point in it before I can point them to a viable website is it).

Thanks for the comments people! its going to be SERIOUSLY fun to play!!

Jeff Highsmith: You can see muzzle flash just fine in daylight.

Keith: you might be right about large-caliber weapons I confess I dunno; with many small arms though there is no perceptible muzzle flash in full daylight.
