Plan for Canon

by Canon · 04/17/2005 (4:57 am) · 39 comments

I plan to work as a freelance in a near futur, so I'm preparing a portfolio.
My priority is the game Mathieu and i are working on, but i will have some free time to contribute or work on other projects.
I want to present a few study cases (perhaps in a web site) in addition to all the 3D and 2D art i made for MiniOne Racing and various web sites.

Here are my first personal projects :

Study case 1 : RTS/Strategy game buildings
my objective was to make very "low poly" buildings, without sacrificing the graphic quality of the 3D models. Each building has 50 to 250 poly.
Exemples :

In order to make a little composition, i prepared a basic tree (10 poly), a few rocks (20-40 polys) and 3 ground textures.

Study case 2 : My first character
This model is not perfect (too much polygones and a few articulations problems), but it's a good result for a first try.

After this work, i bought the Girl Pack to learn more on correctly optimised meshes and skeletons (and also because i am a fan of Joe Maruschak). I also wait with impatient the resource of Jeff Gran.

Work in progress :
I plan making a complete scene in the LP demo. As a complete scene, i mean a little world (building, character(s), environnement...).

I finished the house (made from a concept art visible in my previous .plan), and i'm working on the first character, a "fantasy cow" and a few decors.

This scene will require a lot of work, especially for the characters, but it is also an excellent training exercise!

I know that my graphic style is particular (cartoon models, saturated colors...), and that the majority of the community projects are rather "realistic". Once the complete scene will be finished , I will surely work on some futuristic or realistic models.

to be continued

I LOVE the look of this!

EDIT: This is actually the same style that I'm (attempting) to utilize for my TGE stuff right now. Yours looks 1 million times better, though!

Spelling...grrr...
