Plan for Britton LaRoche

by Britton LaRoche · 04/01/2004 (7:25 am) · 29 comments

Looks like the Game Connection was a hit! The GDC was not all that great but the face to face meeting with the retail publishers paid off!!

www.burgerwar.com

Woo hoo! I just about pooped in my pants when I saw the terms. **(CONFIDENTIAL) advance, Approx equal **(CONFIDENTIAL) amount on deliverable of the gold master and 10% roylaties for the first 9 months of retail sales. Fantastic. They play tested the beta with a bunch of college and highschool kids who loved it. Everyone of them was ready to buy. They said it was the best market test that they had ever seen on a game!

After the downer of the GDC (Garage Games was the only good thing out there) this is much needed. I can finally breath a sigh of relief and start hiring people full time at Amped Labs

Yeeesss!! Dreams do come true! I've been doubting my self recently, But when Thomas faxed the contract to me last night I realised that your dreams are the only true thing in life. Trust em!

Now the real work begins!

** the total CONFIDENTIAL amount is about twice what I could earn as an employee in a year.

Nice stuff Britton,

Make sure you have a good lawyer look over the small print though, just in case.

Cool news though.

Fantastic!!!

Britton, nobody around here (except for maybe the GG guys themselves) have worked harder, sacrificed more, or believed more strongly in the indie movement then you have. I've always admired your dedication and I'm very happy that your hard work has finnaly payed off!

CONGRADULATIONS!

@Phil, yeah thats what he (my lawyer Thomas Buscaglia) was doing the past couple of days. I really did not think we would get the terms we wanted. Jeff Tunnell said they would offer 10k and 10% Royalties and I never see any royalties. He is usually correct. But they finally agreed and signed. Fantastic!

Great to hear Britton! Congratulations on the deal.

Now I can't wait for all the write-ups you said were going to happen. I'm hoping to learn a hell of a lot from you, so that when the time comes for Mayhem 2090 we can be as successful :)

Thanks Nick and Eric! I feel like I have aged 10 years since 2003. Right now I'm smoking the celebratory cigar and planning to take a nap. There is no better community than this one. You guys will follow with your own deals soon too I am sure!

P.S. The nap is in order because I got absolutley zero sleep last night. What a rush. I was afraid if I fell asleep it might turn out to be just a dream or something. Just got off the phone with Thomas and double / tripple checked to make sure everything was perfect and the deal was really good.

Poor guy has had to repeat "Yes, Britton. The deal is signed its all good." About 1000 times maybe it would have sunk in quicker if he spoke several languages so he could say in Hindi or something.

Clark, Dude you the man! Your performance suggestions really helped out on the frame rate and that was important in the demo because we turned on cartoon outlining.

By the way the call to GLFinish is still in the head for the gui render!

Joe spoke very highly of you at the GDC... Any chance we could contract you for a bit of coding?
