Today, InstantAction informed employees that it will be winding down operations. While we are shutting down the InstantAction.com website and Instant Jam game, Torquepowered.com will continue to operate while InstantAction explores opportunities with potential buyers for Torque. We thank all of our past and current customers for their support.

I've been reading this thread since the bad news came... While I'm not totally surprised, I'm sorry it came to this and I'm still hoping that the staff and products will survive this somewhat intact. I'm still making my current project (MMO) in TGB and will hopefully release it next year sometime.

I agree, everyone should post what they are working on with screen shots, videos, etc. Perhaps if any companies looking seriously at IA's Torque products will see them. It could only help bolster the user community. I will work on some more show off content this weekend.

So its great to talk about projects your working on now. But its more important to talk about which products you will be purchasing in the future. You want to show how commited you are to torque. make some tutorials, post some fixes to the engine

Not trying to be a jerk, but thats what matters, talk is cheap. If torque means as much as everyone claims, finish the missing documentation, Do like pino did and help the community fix the problems. There are not more then a few user created tutorials.. WHy is that?

See, a business is more valuable if it has alot of future clients and prospective deals and a only a few current customers , then alot of old customers and only a few new prospects.

Torque is valuable and has alot of promise, but folks need to start stepping up and donating assets, help, source code, tutorials, ect to newbies. They are the future of this industry. Thats a strong community, not a bunch of folks who mourn your departure. Not aimed at anyone, there are a good amount who do help.

Good luck to all involved though and hope you at least get a profitable sale.
Cheers,

Shame. The lack of linux support did it for me. I bought TGE when it had a Linux version (TGEA was also available for Linux). Now, with "torque 3d" it's Windowws or Mac. Not saying Linux was a big source of income - but sure did alienate a few users (and left me feeling I had wasted my money - with no support or upgrade path).Good luck to all involved though and hope you at least get a profitable sale.
Cheers,

People bought Torque to make games, not write tutorials. It was GG/IA's job to make sure adequate documentation exists. Not doing so devalues Torque with respect to other engines, even if it does give you source code.

Uhm Smaug, with all do respect, but Torque has more Tuts made by the company, than Unity 3D and UDK combined, and those are "supposed" to be top of the line engines.

- The T3D advertisement page read-about a similar plugin...but we only received a "play in browser" plugin.
- It's only right, or else I would not have said anything.
// this is a genuine question.

..can we get the IA web plugin ? - The T3D advertisement page read-about a similar plugin...but we only received a "play in browser" plugin.

@Adam D Cohen - ++. Thanks man =)
@eb - It's a really good question. A shame I don't have an answer, but I've voice my opinion in IRC before.

@Smaug - Have you seen the latest T3D documentation?@Adam D Cohen - ++. Thanks man =)

@Darrell - You have some solid points. An investor will want to try and get an estimate of growth. However, do not down play the importance of existing revenue and "stickiness". People who decide to stay with an engine through the good and bad are just as important to an investor.

I think people misunderstood my intentions. I was simply commenting on Darrell's suggestion that it is somehow an imperative on the community to "finish the missing documentation," as *he* puts it. It is not; it is the Torque owner's job to do so.

Will continue to use Torque, as it's the only affordable engine that you can use to get a peek under the hood - and I've learned tons from it.

TGE & Torque 3D has helped me through university, pursuing a Software Engineer degree. When the other's where busy fiddling with writing and reading to files I was already digging into the Torque source, keeping my interest in programming peeked.Will continue to use Torque, as it's the only affordable engine that you can use to get a peek under the hood - and I've learned tons from it.

I'm sure this is not the end for Torque, but just a little bump in the road. Let's keep it optimistic!

Maybe it is there to fence off posting jerks, but this mess is also seen by those you guys wants to attract. Drop the canning as a bug, and toggle it back to normal.

From Mich: It's not that easy. It is a site bug we cannot tackle right now

C'mon guys. It's a pest to reply properly to fellow developers blogs. Not only do we have to make numerous posts to bring our message, but we are limited to 1 post per minute.Maybe it is there to fence off posting jerks, but this mess is also seen by those you guys wants to attract. Drop the canning as a bug, and toggle it back to normal.
