November Update

by Eric Preisz · 11/11/2010 (7:00 pm) · 1042 comments

Today, InstantAction informed employees that it will be winding down operations. While we are shutting down the InstantAction.com website and Instant Jam game, Torquepowered.com will continue to operate while InstantAction explores opportunities with potential buyers for Torque. We thank all of our past and current customers for their support.

Yeah, it would probably be best not to start making announcements like

Quote:EDITED to avoid sowing confusion

quite yet...

For what it's worth re: other engines, however, BrokeAss Games is here to stay and will continue to use and support Torque technology, no matter what anybody else does.

Thanks again for all the hard, hard work over the years, Torque team!

After, chatting with TP team, it seems I acted too fast.
TP team does not think that Foundation can save TP employees.
So they removed my posts about torquefoundation.

But @Johnny, Yes the idea was to keep Open Source (Free or not members should say), and to find a way to save source, website and the team with the community's help.

@Johnny: Vincent has nothing to do with operations here, so no, nothing is going open source.

You see the confusion things like that cause?

@All: the one thing that will actually help at the moment is just to go ahead with the current projects and to keep our Torque activity up as usual (or more!).

Just keep blogging about your games and put tons of videos ;)

Thanks Ronny and Vincent for making it clear.

It's admirable what Vincent is trying to do. You'll have my full support.

So any word on if the licenses we all purchased will still be valid if this all turns in to a nightmirror. I mean will we still be able to make and sell games? I think lots of people in this community would be very and i mean very mad if all the money they invested in torques great products would no longer be useable.

Anyone jumping ship at this juncture is premature. Torque is the best engine out there. Period. Stick with what you have. You own it.
Foundations and such sound good, but won't fly. IAC owns part of the patent, but I don't believe they own all of it. Not to mention that pesky eula getting in the way. :-D ( <-- that's a big smile)

Who/where do I contact if I'm interested in the ownership of TP?

If you send an e-mail to licensing@torquepowered.com or sales@torquepowered.com, it will get to the right people.

I just wanted to take the time to thank everyone for your support. We've received a lot e-mails supporting us; thank you, its helping us stay focused during this challenging time. We’ve been very busy answering inquiries. I think I’m going to be up all night working on some presentation material.

I know we haven't answered everyone's questions yet. We are getting to them one at a time while we are still taking calls and having meetings.

Thanks again everyone!

I'm part of team that has been developing serious game applications for the US Army for nearly 10 years now and Torque has proven, hands-down, to be the best platform for our production team and our clients.

I want to extend sympathies to all those in the extended Torque family who have been hurt by this calamity and add my voice to the chorus of those who are shouting that Torque should/can/must live on.
